I won an Atomic Clock at an outing.
You know the kind, they have no adjustments on them but are set by those machines flying around our planet.
Taking it home and powering it up (with a double A battery), it was quite the thing to watch (no pun intended).
It ran around in circles one way – stopped – went a little bit backwards – stopped – then sat there doing nothing for a while. I was about to give up on it, when it started going around in circles again – almost covering every hour of the day, until it stopped at precisely the right time to the second (although I don’t really know how I can prove that), and then proceeded to keep time that I now set every other clock to.
Amazing.
Kinda like us, wouldn’t you say?
Once we get powered up (hopefully, not by a double A battery) we go one way, then another, then stop. All confused and not sure what we’re doing or where we’re going. Then the master clock kicks in and we get the proper instruction and after spinning our gears round and round, we run precisely and perfectly.
Amazing.
We just need the right power source and the right master clock and we’re running in sync with life. Feels cool, when you finally find those, doesn’t it? Don’t feel good when you find the wrong one.
I’ve been consumed lately with my new project, so sorry if I haven’t been responsive to my Tweet, Goodreads, FB and writing fans. It’s been hectic – but I know you’ll forgive me. Making a big change. Can’t wait to tell you about it. Soon.
